What we offer......

Full Day Care (0 years to Reception)

Staff to children ratio:

1:3 for 0-2 year olds

1:4 for 2-3 year olds

1:8 for 3 years and over

Planned activities relate to the Early Years Foundation Stage from birth to five years.  We work to written plans but encourage spontaneous child lead activities and allow the children to develop as individuals.  Play is an important part of learning and development.

Nursery Education Funding (NEF)

Two, Three and four year olds are entitled to 15 hours or 30 hours per week for 38 weeks a year of funded nursery education.  We will follow the New Code of Practice on the provision of funded places.  This can be made up of flexible block sessions between 9.00am and 3.00pm for Preschool aged children and 8.30am until 4.00pm for all other funded spaces.

The Pre-school children at Westlands will have the opportunity to have a cooked school lunch, which will be eaten in the main hall.

(School lunches are at an additional cost)

Before and After School Club

On arrival your child will be offered breakfast for example toast, cereal, or fruit with a drink.  They will have the opportunity to play and prepare for the day ahead.

After school your child will be offered a tea for example cheese and tomato oatcakes, chicken and salad pitta breads or soup and a selection of sandwiches.  They will have the opportunity to carry out homework, but this will not be compulsory followed by free play.  We will organise a planned activity each night for example arts and crafts, sports or dance and drama.

Our main aim will be to listen to what the children want to do and what they enjoy.  All the children will be involved in planning the activities and how they spend their time with us.

Holiday Club

During the school holidays we will provide a range of activities to entertain the children from 7.30am until 6.00pm.  We will be organising trips and days out for the children to local attractions and places of interest for example the cinema, bowling or park.  We will provide breakfast, a light tea, snacks, and drinks but each child will need a packed lunch.  Please put the lunch in a labelled bag which will be stored in a fridge.
